What will you say when your family asks for a vacation this time? Get rid of all those nagging thoughts that engulf your for such a long time and gift a holiday to your family. Pamper yourself with great air fares and a wonderful time out in the city of life. Avoid holiday rush. The most expensive airfare tickets are during holiday season. Book at least 2-3 weeks earlier to get the cheapest airfare rates. Consider to return one week after the holiday. People usually travel a day before the holiday and return on a Sunday. If you travel along with these people you will spend more. It is best to be flexible with travel dates for you to get the cheapest airfare rates.
With package holidays, most operators are members of the huge ATOL and ABTA travel protection schemes. This means if the firm goes bust or there’s another issue, your getaway’s protected that way. However, if you book flights and/or hotels directly, this won’t apply unless the provider’s ATOL-registered.
Direct non-stop flights are best. With each stop the chances of something going wrong (e.g. being stranded as a result of delayed flights) increases. Especially avoid stopovers in places during their bad-weather seasons (e.g. Chicago is prone to snowstorms in winter).
If you’ve inadvertently forgot about those Aeroplan or Air Miles points you’ve been racking up for years, now’s the time to use them! For Canadians using Air Miles, the best bang for your buck is to use your points for in-country travel, as this uses the least amount of points for the distance, though if you are swimming in points (company credit cards can be a goldmine for this), this is a good way to save serious bucks.
