Being a military dependent I grew up with travel, picnics on the Rhine and exploring castles, cathedrals and ruins. Upon growing up and settling down what a shock to discover the travels of my youth that I took for granted were the exception not the norm! In 1998, after raising a family, my first love – travel – became a second career. In February 2014, an outbreak of hemorrhagic fever later identified as Ebola, occurred in Southern Guinea and is continuing through March and likely April. Ebola is a virus infection that has a high case fatality rate (up to 90% but may be as low as 25%) and can be spread by direct contact with infected blood/secretions. Patients with Ebola may cross the border to enter Sierra Leone and Liberia for medical care. See health reports for additional information.

In August 2016 I made a reservation through FlipKey (a division of TripAdvisor) for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo at the Boca Raton Condominiums located just off of South Las Vegas Blvd in Las Vegas, NV. My reservation was for four senior citizens and I specifically needed this location because it was just a block away from The South Point Casino where I was participating in the USBC National Bowling Tournament on March 8th and 9th of 2017. I made the reservation early for three reasons: (1) I knew that NASCAR races were in town that same week (along with other activities) and demand for housing would be high and more costly, (2) I wanted a location convenient to South Point, and (3) I had friends and relatives to visit so I had to plan our time right.

We do business with traditional companies that have celebrated their centenary and we think they are old…in internet terms, five years is old. To those of you who are over fifty and went to school when perhaps slide rules were the order of the day, perhaps lucky enough to be allowed to use a calculator toward the end of your school years….you will appreciate what has happened over recent times.travel advisor

Moche warriors held ritual battles to decide who would be given as sacrificial victims to the gods. Special ceremonial cutthroats were used to cut victim’s necks and then the blood offered in special cups. Those intended for sacrifice were known to be held for weeks before death to allow maximum blood letting. When crops failed because fo bad weather, we think they used children as sacrifices.travel advisor

Since the outbreak of Ebola commenced in early 2014, there has been, by end August 2014, over 3000 cases of Ebola virus disease (EVD) with over 1500 deaths. The outbreak continues through August. Quarantine zones have been set up in areas of high transmission, including some cities. The affected countries (Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone) continue to report new cases. A case (fatal) hospitalised in Lagos, Nigeria, travelled to Nigeria from Liberia via Lome (Togo) and Accra (Ghana) while unwell with EVD.
