New York Ski Resort & Family Vacation Getaway

Now we walk for three miles with forty-five pounds and have forty-five minutes to complete it. Which sounds easy, but for littler, shorter people it’s not easy. I realized as we started out on our first half mile lap that while I have been hiking fast a lot, I haven’t been hiking fast with a lot of weight. If I carry a forty-five pound pack these days, it can only be in winter when I need extra snow gear. Usually my pack for a week tops about 25 pounds. Very soon we will meet on the mountain for a time of encouragement and refreshing in the presence of the Lord. Please help us pray for the Lord’s will to be done at AMA 2015, and if you have not registered but would like to join us, please let us know as soon as possible.

At RED, visitors can choose from 110 runs spread across three stellar mountains that feature everything from wide-open groomers to steep, powder-filled glades. With more than 2,682 skiable acres and 890 meters (2,919 feet) of vertical terrain serviced by 7 total lifts, there is a lot to explore at RED. The abundant snow, friendly staff and locals, and the short lift lines are just a few reasons why our guests fall in love.

We caravan’ed to the Coal Kilns and were headed for the base of the Northeast ridge at 9:00am. Deez and the youngster were along for the fun. Their plan was to hike a ways up the route with me. The youngster bolted to the front of the group, which meant that I eventually had to catch up with him and then hang back until we could regroup with Deez. They made it a bit farther up the route until they had to head back.mountain

We have received emails asking if the wild apple orchards survived the cold temps this spring. The answer is YES, most that we have looked over have survived, and small apples are appearing. As we write this some at higher elevations are just blooming. Some of the plum and apricot trees did not survive frosts.
