As many of you know, there are many apple, pear orchards throughout the Bradshaw’s that were planted in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. They still produce large crops of fruit but are subject to cool spring freezes which prevent them from producing. Ive had a chance to sample from most of these orchards through the years and all the apples are excellent tasting.

The Institute’s education model that combines academic learning with community building was developed in our Appalachian program and has been exported to other mountain regions. Over the decades, our courses have ranged from experiential learning trips and teacher training to field trips that take learning beyond the classroom into mountain wilderness areas. …

a natural elevation of the earth’s surface rising more or less abruptly to a summit, and attaining an altitude greater than that of a hill, usually greater than 2000 feet (610 meters). By Tuesday morning, we were re-packed and ready for a road trip! We set off first thing in the direction of the Peak District and after several set backs, eventually found both good rock and good routes in Cheedale. At Ravensdale, we discovered a voluntary bird ban, so re-located to Aldly Cliff, where we found the fixed anchors were being replaced (and therefore, currently removed). Then it started raining and our hopes for climbing seemed to be running out. As we walked into Chee Dale to ‘have a look’, the skies suddenly cleared and we were rewarded for our persistence!

Our attention has been drawn to the fragility of Planet Earth by the space programme. Ever since the …

Governors Island is a 172-acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. Yards away from lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, it’s easily accessible by ferry and open to the public during the summer. The success of Nikoi led the owners to look for another island to develop. The lessons learnt from Nikoi and a passion for being sensitive to both the environment, the local culture and to engage the local community inspired them to use bamboo as the primary building material on Cempedak.

Climbing The Mountain With Caleb

May has come and gone, and I’m thinking June has a spring in her step, much like May’s! The Kuffner Ridge, also know as the Frontier Ridge, on Mount Maudi was first climbed by Mortiz von Kuffner with Alexander Burgener, Josef Furrer, and a porter in 1887 and is one of these classic routes. This ridge is a complex buttress of exposed ridge and towers holding an entire days-worth of moderate mixed climbing and snow spines.

So I hauled up the anchor and motored round the end of Eilean an Tighe to the western side of the isthmus. This anchorage is open to the swell of the Little Minch and disturbed by the tidal movement through the Sound of Shiant. Despite this, with the light wind blowing Coral away from the islands, she felt safer. Two Danish yachts had already taken the best positions but I was able to find …

International Flights From Delhi To Las Vegas

There are several celebrated airline companies in the industry and many new airline companies are being launched. To be in competition, these airline companies often offer international cheap flights tickets in order to attract the travelers to avail their services. But, grabbing these deals is not an easy matter. The deals are limited and the demand of them is greater. Thus, you need to be vigilant enough and know which airlines are offering deals and when are the deals available. Remember, missing a deal can frustrate all your plans of visiting an international destination. Also, using the Best Fare Finder on JetBlue’s site, I found a $54 promotional fare from Fort Lauderdale to Aruba. Combined with a $16 rewards fare for my return trip, the cost of taxes and fees on the flight, I flew nonstop, round-trip to Aruba for only $70.

It can seem like a daunting task to …
