One of the best ways to travel is through a car. There is nothing quite like the view a well-planned road trip brings. Yes, it is not quite as fast as boarding a plane or a train, but with road trips, the journey itself is as fun as the destination. And you know which place offers one of the most fantastic drives? Gold Coast, Australia.
Australia is one of the best countries to live in and has always been known to have some of the most breathtaking sites and the most thrilling adventures. But you have never seen true beauty in the world than by driving around Gold Coast. Purple wavy mountains, a pristine coastline, and beautiful world heritage sites can be found here.
Pretty sure you are already imagining yourself driving through that, huh? Well, you would be happy to know that you can actually browse through and get a DriveNow car hire in the Gold Coast airport as you are reading this. While you are inquiring about different cars and packing your bags, look over this list of places you can see during your road trip.
Jimbour House has historical homes built in 1876 as a private residence. You can tour the gardens which has some of the most magnificent trees and flowers. In fact, if you are very much into learning about garden fashion, the Jimbour House ground is the perfect place to mine for information. The grounds are open daily, all you need to do is to donate how much you can to enter.
If you drive a short distance out of Mudgeeraba, you will end up on a mountain round that will lead you to Springbrook Mountain. It offers one of the most picturesque views in Gold Coast. Go to the Wunburra Lookout and get a spectacular view of the Purling Brook Gorge and Mount Cougal. The Purling Brook Falls actually has a 4km circuit that will lead you into a gorge, to a waterfall where rock pools can be found.
Hinterland is a German word that means “the land behind”. The word itself has a lot of meanings, but here, hinterland is the inland region behind the coast. A visit to Numinbah Drive will take you to the Gold Coast hinterland where you can find the border of New South Wales. Here you will the Natural Bridge that will lead you to a rock formation over millions of years in age that drops down from the ceiling of a basalt cave.
Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm
If you want a more laid-back activity after that long drive, you can go visit Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm. Here you can have a food and wine experience like never before while you are surrounded by a beautiful field of lavenders. From Surfers Paradise, Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm is a 2-hour drive, where you can see the Gold Coast hinterlands at the eastern edge of the Scenic Rim. It is a drive worth taking, though, if you are going to have wine and food in a lavender field.
We have not even scratched the surface yet, these are just some of the places you will pass by on your drive around the Gold Coast. So go on and book that ticket, hire that car, and get ready for a road trip of a lifetime.
